At Speak Up, we work together with young people to organise and run a range of training sessions for workers who support care experienced children and young people.
The workers who might attend these training sessions include:
The aim of the training is to help workers understand some of the issues and feelings that care experienced young people may face. It also helps workers to know that even the smallest changes to the way they work with young people in care can have a positive impact.
The types of training we deliver are sessions with students in the social work academy, training to people who are thinking about becoming foster carers, and training about corporate parenting which is delivered to a range of different services across the council.
The training is really powerful because it's designed, developed and delivered by young people. It's a great opportunity to help workers develop their skills, but can also help you build your skills and experience too!
