Parents aged under 18 whose child is subject to a Child Protection Plan

If you're a parent or expectant parent, and your child is subject to a Child Protection Plan, you can access advocacy support from Speak Up.

If you would like support to express your views and contribute to the child protection process, you can ask for an advocate. Your views are really important and should be listened to so you are involved in the plan to support your child.

Advocacy support could help you to:

  • have your voice heard within decision making and planning, in line with your rights
  • navigate the child protection process for your child
  • request information to help you understand the decision making and child protection process for your child
  • be at the centre of the support and planning for your child
  • understand yours and your child’s rights and entitlements
  • challenge decisions or plans that you disagree with or are not happy with
  • prepare for child protection meetings if you would like to attend them; or an advocate can attend on your behalf if you don’t wish to attend
