York's Children in Care Council and Care Leavers' Forum exists to make sure that all children and young people who are cared for (or were previously cared for) by City of York Council have the chance to share their views, with the aim of helping shape and influence the services which affect them and other young people with care experience.
This is important because you know best what you want from the services that support you!
York’s Children in Care Council and Care Leaver’s Forum is made up of lots of different ways to get involved:
GET SOCIAL – Sessions for those who just want to hang out with friends, eat snacks and have fun!
GET CREATIVE – Sessions for those who like to express themselves through art, writing, media or music.
GET TALKING – Sessions for those who like to sit down and discuss important issues.
GET INVOLVED - Everyone can get involved! Want to have your say but don’t want to come to a session, we’ll find something that works for you!
Care Champions
Care Champions are care-experienced young people aged 14-25 who aim to represent the views of all care experienced young people in York. The champions will listen to the views of others and work together on issues affecting children in care and care leavers.
